GTA V Sales Pass $1 Billion

According to publisher Take-Two Interactive, Grand Theft Auto has reached $1 billion in global sales in its first three days of release, with $800 million of that occurring on day one.

To put that into perspective, it took Activision 15 days to reach that milestone with last year’s Call of Duty Black Ops II, while blockbuster film “The Avengers” took 19 days to pass $1 billion in sales.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said, “Grand Theft Auto is a cultural phenomenon and Rockstar Games continues to redefine what can be achieved in interactive entertainment. GTA V busts the billion dollar mark in just three days.

We are incredibly proud of the extraordinary critical and commercial response to Grand Theft Auto V.”

Grand Theft Auto Online launches as a free DLC update on October 1.
